Level III PICU Non-Teaching Center

College of pediatric critical care recognizes level III PICUs anywhere in India. Some amongst the important criteria needed are as follows-

Level III PICU Non-Teaching Center:

Headed by Qualified pediatric intensivist
Infrastructure • To cater to long term ventilation
• Independent PICU (not part of adult ICU / NICU)
Manned by All allopathic doctors
Part of • Multispeciality (200 beds),
• Stand alone pediatric (100 beds)
Facilities Neuro- Imaging, 2D echo, EEG, blood bank in campus
Number of admissions • Minimum number not specified

#all those already recognized as teachers by the college, IDPCCM, IFPCCM, DM (MCI approved), FNB/ DNB (in pediatric critical care), American Board certified, any other approved by the college

What is the advantage of heading a non-teaching level III PICU?:

  • By virtue of heading a level III unit as above, a qualified pediatric intensivist has potential to be accredited as teacher after 1 year.
  • Subsequently when a unit has adequate workload to train, such a unit can apply for level III teaching unit.

Infrastructure • To cater to long term ventilation
• Independent PICU (not part of adult / NICU)
Manned by All allopathic doctors
Part of • Multispeciality (>200 beds),
• Stand alone pediatric hospital (>100 beds)
Facilities Minimum one year Neuro- Imaging, 2D echo, EEG, blood bank in campus
Number of admissions • Minimum number of admissions 250 / year
• Minimum number of invasive ventilation 50 / year

What is the process of getting Level III PICU accredited for teaching?

  • A level III PICU unit, with adequate workload, headed by minimum one qualified teacher (full time), can apply for Level III teaching accredited unit
